Android app privacy and data

Updated 30 September 2026 · Applies to the Ayah by Day Android app

The Android app does not require an account and does not include ads or analytics. Reading and personal library features work without sending your notes or reading activity to us.

Data kept on your device

The app stores your notes, unfinished drafts, bookmarks, collections, reading position, daily progress, practice session, preferences, and downloaded recitations on your device. Automatic Android cloud backup is disabled. You can delete local personal data in Settings. Uninstalling the app removes its local data unless you exported a copy yourself.

Backups and sharing

If you choose to export a backup or readable notes, Android lets you select where to save the file. Backups contain personal notes and drafts in unencrypted form; protect and share them accordingly. Restoring a backup replaces the current local library after you review the incoming data. If you choose “Prepare a content issue report,” Android opens a share sheet with the app version, edition and current Quran reference. The report does not automatically include private notes.

Internet access

Arabic text and English meanings are bundled for offline reading. When you stream or download recitation, the app requests audio from Al Quran Cloud / Islamic Network. That provider may receive ordinary connection information, such as your IP address, under its own policy. Opening a source or privacy link uses your browser. The app does not upload your library to ayahbyday.com.

Your choices

You can read without using recitation or exporting data. Settings lets you export, restore, or delete your local personal data. The website privacy page describes the separate browser reader, which does not sync with this Android app.
